Meet Travis

Last year I flew down to Haiti with 15 other students and adults for my first mission trip outside of the US. That trip was one of the most impactful 10 days of my life—so much so that when I returned to Cary after that trip, I couldn’t hold back my desire to go back. I’m leading this trip to Haiti with a great group of people. Each one of us has a different story, a different walk of life, and different reasons for wanting to go. The best part though is seeing how each one of our stories is fitting into the bigger plan God has for our group and trip.

I lose myself every time I think about this trip and how much potential it has to change our lives. We will be doing something totally different than my first trip’s team as we are working on land preparation for the building plans for the Haitian Children’s Home. This first trip has opened my eyes to so much more than the small bubble of a life I live in Cary, North Carolina. I’m excited to see change in our group members, and to be able to grow in a new leadership experience.

Please be praying for each of us in our preparation and support raising. Pray for our emotions, our physical strength, our authenticity as a group, and pray most of all for change. Thanks for everything you are doing and will do to support our team.
We’ll keep you updated on our trip progress every step of the way, so stay tuned. Until then—Grace & Peace.

Meet Nicole

Hi, I'm Nicole Duncan. I'm twenty years old and am currently a full time student at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I love teaching and dancing...hence my major in Dance Education. Even though I live two hours away, I still consider Crosspointe to be my church home.

It's been on my heart for quite some time to go on a mission trip and I'm just so thankful that Crosspointe has partnered with the Haitian Children's Home to allow me this opportunity. I can't express in words how honored and excited I am to be a part of this team. I know that God is going to do great things through this trip, not only in me and my teammates but worldwide...and I can't wait! God is so good. :)

Meet Johnna

My name is Johnna Hinton. I am twenty-two years old. I work at Crosspointe Church in the Children’s Ministry and I am also a Site Director at the Cary YMCA. I am also in grad school working on my Masters in Counseling.

I have actually never been on a mission trip before. I have always wanted to go on one but it has never worked out with being in school and all of the other commitments I have so I am very excited to be able to go to Haiti in May. I am excited to see how God is going to use us as a team and how it will affect each of us individually.

Meet Devin

Hi, my name is Devin and I’m 11 years old. I’m going to Haiti with my mom and step-dad. I have never been on a mission trip or out of this country before so I’m a little nervous and excited! When my mom and step-dad went before they talked so much about it when they came home and I decided that is what I would want to do, go to Haiti. My biggest concern is that when I go the poverty and other sights my take over and I will freak out!

When I go I am hoping to help out as much as I can! Our mission trip is for helping out on the land, building and cleaning up. I am looking forward to playing with the kids; I don’t know what they will think of me at first but I hope they will like me. When I go to Haiti I want to help!

“On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich foods for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine- the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers our nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken.” Isaiah 25:6-8

“Devin picked this bible verse herself as she felt God was talking about wiping out poverty and hunger…” Devin’s Mom Karen
